Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Highbury
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Highbury has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to promote fair and safe working conditions in every aspect of our services.
Our Business and Values
Man with Van Highbury is a local transport and removals business providing moving, delivery, and related services to residential and commercial customers. Our work relies on people, and we are committed to treating every individual with dignity, respect, and fairness. We expect the same commitment from everyone we work with, including employees, contractors, and suppliers.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, debt bondage, human trafficking, child labour, and exploitation. We do not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. Any confirmed breach of this policy will result in immediate and decisive action, which may include termination of contracts, reporting to relevant authorities, and internal disciplinary measures.
Risk Assessment and Supply Chain
Our operations and supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance, fuel and equipment suppliers, and the use of subcontracted drivers and porters for certain services. We recognise that the use of subcontracted labour and outsourced services can present higher risks of labour exploitation, especially where there are complex layers of subcontracting or where temporary workers are used.
We assess these risks by reviewing the nature of services provided to us, the locations where those services occur, and the labour practices common in those sectors. Where we identify higher-risk activities, we apply more detailed checks and ongoing monitoring.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold standards that are consistent with our zero-tolerance policy. As a condition of doing business with Man with Van Highbury, suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and that they do not engage in or tolerate modern slavery in any form.
We conduct proportionate checks and audits of suppliers, with particular focus on those providing labour or services that may be vulnerable to exploitation. These audits may include reviewing policies, contracts, and working conditions, verifying identity and right-to-work documentation, and speaking with workers where appropriate. Where gaps or concerns are identified, we work with suppliers to implement corrective actions within clear timeframes. Failure to demonstrate adequate progress may result in the end of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone connected with our business, including employees, subcontractors, agency workers, and suppliers, to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised directly with management or through any internal reporting route that enables issues to be escalated in confidence.
We will investigate all reported concerns promptly and fairly. Individuals raising concerns in good faith will not suffer any form of retaliation or adverse treatment as a result of speaking up. Where there is evidence of criminal behaviour, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks within our workforce. Relevant members of our team, particularly those involved in recruitment, supplier management, and subcontractor engagement, receive guidance on identifying warning signs of exploitation and on the correct procedures for raising and responding to concerns.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by our management team to ensure it remains effective, current, and aligned with best practice and legal requirements. As part of this review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our risk assessments, audits, and reporting channels, and consider feedback from staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
We are committed to ongoing improvement. Over time, we aim to strengthen our due diligence, deepen our engagement with suppliers on ethical standards, and enhance training to ensure that everyone associated with Man with Van Highbury understands our expectations and responsibilities in preventing modern slavery.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Highbury and applies to the financial year to which it relates.
